Biography: John H. Taubman of Castletown had been a merchant mariner before the First World War. He joined the army in 1915 and was posted to the 9th battalion Cheshire Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 4 November 1918, just one week before the close of hostilities. He is buried in Cross Roads Cemetery, Fontaine-au-Bois, near Le Cateau. (Image ref: PG/13743/26).
