Biography: Gilbert Hampton Kelly was born in Ramsey, and was a member of the staff of Lloyd's Bank in the town prior to joining the army. He enlisted in 1917, and proceeded on active service to France, joining the 25th battalion Machine Gun Corps. In April 1918 he was in the Ypres area in Belgium, when the German offensive against this part of the front was launched. He died of wounds and gas poisoning on 30 April 1918 aged 21.
