Biography: John Clague Born at Ballanorris 1842-1908, he was for many years an able and well-loved medical practionier in Castletown. He had an enthusiastic interest in the Manx language and customs and in traditional music of the Island. Much of his leisure time was spent in the homes of the country folk, and his notebooks (now in the manx Museum Library) record a vast number of folk songs and folk sayings. His work was the basis of printed collections of Manx Music.
