Biography: Evan Edwin Quayle of Castletown joined the army after the outbreak of the First World War, enlisting in the Manx Service Company. He was subsequently posted to the 1st battalion Cheshire Regiment in France, and was killed in action on 2 September 1918. He has no known grave, and is remembered on the Vis en Artois memorial to the missing. (Image ref: PG/13743/52).
