Record type: First World War Biographies
Biography: Edward Bridson was a mason from Castletown before the First World War. He joined the army early in 1916, under the Derby scheme, which had encouraged men to volunteer as reservists on the understanding that they would only be called up if needed. He served first with the King's Liverpool Regiment, but served in France from October 1916 with the 21st battalion Cheshire Regiment, a pioneer battalion. In January 1917 he returned to the United Kingdom, hospitalised with bronchitis. (Image ref: PG/13769/9).
