W.S. Bargery
Epithet: Soldier in the Machine Gun Corps
Record type: First World War Biographies
Biography: William Stanley Bargery was born in Douglas, and was the son of George Bargery of Elinora Drive, a bank manager. In 1914, William was living in Liverpool and working as a bank clerk. He volunteered for the army in December 1915, apparently under Lord Derby's scheme, as he was not called up until March 1916. After a short spell with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers he was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps. He does not appear to have served overseas. (Image ref: PG/8655/164).
