Biography: Josephine Kermode was the sister of P.M.C. Kermode, the founder of the Manx Museum. She was a prolific poet, using the nom de plume 'Cushag', after the Manx national flower. She produced a number of works in response to the First World War, and was particularly concerned by the suffering of army horses, penning 'The Blue Cross' in tribute to those who tended to injured animals.
