Biography: Major Charles Percy Atkin was born at Stromness, Orkney, but lived at Hope Street, Castletown. He served in the ranks of the Royal Field Artillery before being commissioned as an officer. He was awarded the Military Cross, and was in command of 'B' Battery, 70th Brigade Royal Field Artillery at the time he was killed during the Cambrai offensive. He is buried in Gouzeaucourt New British Cemetery. (Image ref: PG/13743/2).
