Biography: Lawrence Kennaugh of Knockrushen, Castletown, was serving during the First World War as a signaller with the Royal Garrison Artillery. In April 1918 whilst crossing to England on his way to France, Kennaugh was taken ill and died shortly afterwards of natural causes. His body was returned to the Island and he was given a funeral with full military honours, attended by the Isle of Man Volunteers, at Kirk Malew churchyard. (Image ref: PG/13743/49).
