Wilhelm Noll
Record type: Motorsport Biographies
Biography: Mount: Sidecar – B.M.W.
Age 30, Wilhelm (“Willi”) Noll is holder of the World’s Sidecar Speed record, having covered the flying mile at 174 m.p.h.
He comes from Kirchhain, near Kassel, Germany, and gives as his occupation “Kraftfahrzeugmeister” – which he himself translates as “Master of all kinds of motor-driven vehicles.” He has certainly proved this to be the case in the sidecar classes, at any rate!
Driving a privately-entered B.M.W, Willi won the 1954 German, Swiss and Italian sidecar classes, being placed second in the Belgian G.P. and third in both the “Ulster” and the Sidecar T.T.
Last year he won the Belgian and Italian classics and was second in the Dutch T.T. and German G.P., and also at Solitude.
In the Sidecar T.T. he retired on the last lap, having set up a lap record at 71.93 m.p.h.
He says that his hobbies are “movies and Wild West stories.”
