Harold Riley

Record type: Motorsport Biographies

Biography: Age 37, Harold Riley is a master plumber from Bolton, Lancs. He was a newcomer to the Manx Grand Prix in 1955, and only completed three laps in the Senior before retiring. he had better luck in the 1956 Junior Clubman's race, however, when he finished 33rd, and in 1957 he was 41st in the Junior Manx.

In 1958 he was unlucky enough to retire in both M.G.P. races, but in the 1959 Junior Manx he finished 34th on his Norton at 82.29 m.p.h., winning a replica. He has also had considerable experience at short circuits, and at races in Ireland.

Turning to the T.T. last he rode Notions in the Junior and Senior, but was unlucky enough to retire in both—on the fourth lap of the Junior and on the first lap of the Senior. (TT Special, 16 June 1961, p. 13.)
