Biography: The bravest Manxman' (1850-1904). Opposite the Jubilee Clock in Douglas is a drinking fountain which bears the inscription, 'Erected by public subscription in memory of David Kewley ('Dawsey') as a tribute of admiration for his saving, at various times, 23 lives from drowning. May his example prove an incentive to like heroic deed. A.D. 1904.'
