Mrs Eileen Collister, 1 Primrose Terrace, Port St Mary
Date(s): 1900
Place made: Port St Mary
Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph is the note, ‘Mrs Eileen Collister, 1 Primrose Terrace, Port St Mary 1900’. The shop window contains bananas, apples, oranges, vegetables and flowers. Here we have a good example of a Victorian shopfront albeit not a typical example. On the first floor we have sliding sash windows which are typically open at the top to ventilate the bedrooms. Behind the chimney stack can be seen the stack from the police station which was built to the designs of James Cowle of Douglas.
