Maughold Parish Cross, Maughold Churchyard, Isle of Man

Date(s): 1920s

Scope & Content: The 14th century sandstone standing cross, which formerly stood outside the churchyard gate, is the sole remaining monument of its type in the Isle of Man. In September 1937, the Trustees of the Manx Museum removed the cross to the churchyard. The cross was moved again in 1989-90 from the churchyard to inside the church itself. The site in the churchyard where it stood between 1937 and 1989 is now occupied by Maughold's Millennium cross.
