Freddie Dixon was the first rider to win both a Sidecar and a Solo Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) race on the Mountain circuit. He won the very first Sidecar TT with his famous ‘banking’ Douglas outfit in 1923. That year he also came third in the Senior and in 1927 he won the Junior race.
Dixon gave up motorcycle racing in 1928 to compete in cars. He is one of the very few men in motorsport to have been successful on two, three and four wheels in a hugely successful career.
