'The Amazing Life of the Reverend Hugh Cowell Kinred'

Scope & Content: Illustrated biographical profile compiled by Frenchay Village Museum, South Gloucestershire about a former curate of Frenchay Church. Kinred was awarded the Military Cross for protecting fellow soldiers by attempting to smother an unexploded bomb wth his body during the battle of Neuve Chapelle, 1916, whilst serving with the 14th Battalion Gloucester Regiment.
Administration / Biographical History: Kinred was born in Barrow in Furness to a Manx family then raised and schooled on the Isle of Man, later studying at Bishop Wilson Theological College, Bishopscourt. He died in Douglas, aged 75 years.
