Saw mill, West Baldwin
Date(s): 1870s
Scope & Content: This view is taken from a stereoscopic slide, that is a card with two identical pictures pasted on side-by-side but one slightly over from the other so when you place them in the viewer a 3-D picture is achieved. On the card it says ‘Saw Mill Baldwin’. It appears to be more accuratley West Baldwin Valley. It is interesting to see that the mill building is thatched and has a hipped roof as well (i.e. no gables). Note how the water wheel has very few spokes but this obviously drove the circular saw inside.
