Frederic Smagg's outside staircase, Douglas
Date(s): 1932-1934
Creator(s): Frowde, John James
Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'This was taken from an angle to indicate the extreme narrowness of Seneschal Lane at this point. To revert to the staircase. On the lane-side, front and rear at the top, (seen fairly well in this print) there is a turned wood upright. This was evidently a pillar of a half-tester bed. And the bottom of it is supported in a 3 or 4 inch iron water-main pipe. [sketch] with the wire end uppermost. The upper windows, front and rear'.
