Scope & Content: Viking was built in 1905 by Armstrong Whitworth, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne as an Isle of Man Steam Packet fast passenger ferry. Requisitioned by the Royal Navy on 26 March 1915 for conversion to a seaplane carrier and renamed HMS Vindex. See Frena 48.
