Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from the Secretary to the Treasury, Charles Arbuthnot, informing the Duke of Atholl that George Johnson has been appointed Tide Surveyor at Douglas, and will appoint whomever His Grace nominates to succeed Johnson as Riding Officer at Peel; Arbuthnot then reports that he is unable to recommend [William] Scott's representation, regarding the salaries of Tide Surveyors on the Isle of Man, as that needs to be previously recommended by the Board of Customs.
