Scope & Content: Track 1: William Moore and his wife talk to Max Sutton about farming and rural life. William talks about his brother making an aeroplane and getting it airborne in 1911 and how his brother built an engine to drive the mill. He talks about shoeing horses; getting electricity on the farm c.1957; Quine telling yarns and fairy tales around the fire with his parents; how he demonstrated making suggane (rope made of twisted straw) at the Manx Museum; ghost story told by ‘Old John Quine’; fairies; bullock choking. They talk about the story of how farmers William Cowley and his father could change themselves into hares.
Track 2: Mrs Moore talks about her school days at the national school. William talks about his father; Manx dialect; sitting on the bench in the court house; changes in farming; first tractor in the 1940s; his interest in electricity and mechanics. William ends by talking again about his older brother who built an aeroplane in 1911 after seeing the first plane to land in the Isle of Man.
