Scope & Content: Vanda Dudley gives John Beckerson a tour of 9 Victoria Street (which was called Cornbrook) which was once her parents guest house. Vanda talks about the house and her childhood memories of living there; ground floor; kitchen; boiler room with anecdote about preparing vegetables for guests; dining room with story about cleaning candlesticks for lighting in guest bedrooms; description of view to Victoria Street, Villiers Hotel and tram lines; family sitting room with anecdote about being in trouble for spending tips from guests; landing and hall; first floor front bedroom with story about allocation of rooms; anecdote about policeman on duty at Jubilee Clock referring guests to them; best bedroom; sleeping arrangements for the family in summer season; washing arrangements; description of view from windows and shops nearby; anecdote about game played with papers on the tramlines when going to school; top floor and attics.
