Scope & Content: John Gawne, aged 90, talks to Captain Callow and the Revd. Thompson about Port Erin and Port St Mary fishing fleets. John talks about an apparition he once saw of a black lug sail boat near the Sound. Captain Callow then talks about his story of seeing an apparition of a monk near ‘the Blackboards’, Santon, when he was driving and how James Cregeen of Port Erin had also heard of it.
John then recites the verse of a hymn which was sung at the fishing as part of ‘finishing the day’ after the nets were cast in the evening.
Callow tells the story of a young boy at the fishing.
