Scope & Content: Tracks 1 and 2: Arthur talks about his band 'Arthur Addams and his Rhythm Boys' and tells an anecdote about buying a bass fiddle mentioning taxi driver Billy Faragher and Freddie Callow; playing a gig at the Perwick Bay Hotel, trumpeter Bertini and Bruce Bridson; letters from Joyce describing Second World War bombing raids in Liverpool; applying for job as manager of the Rialto Ballroom, Liverpool, attending the interview and a reunion with Joyce (Hughes) in Southport; returning to the Isle of Man after his interview and to resign from Post Office; hearing whilst at work of Joyce's death in an air raid and seeing the newspaper headline about the Sunshine Children's Home being bombed; reminisces about Joyce and his feelings following her death; visiting Joyce's family; job at the Rialto being given to someone else; Mr Gibson the Post Office Manager, Miss Knox (grand-daughter of Archibald Knox), George Taggart, Peggy O'Shea, Maureen Clague, Irene Clucas and Charlie Shimmin; travelling to Liverpool in April 1942 to join the Merchant Navy and visiting Joyce's grave in Birkdale; joining the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company's 'Duchess of Bedford' converted to a troop carrier, the company's travel system.
