Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from the Home Secretary, Lord Sidmouth, informing the Duke of Atholl that he thought the question of who is the right and fit candidate to be Surgeon to the Household on the Isle of Man had been decided; he goes on to remind the Duke that he was induced to sanction the appointment of Dr. John William Jeffcott, upon the representation made to him by the Lieutenant Governor; continuing further, Lord Sidmouth states that he approved of Dr. Henry Oswald as the new surgeon, due to Jeffcott's resignation, upon the recommendation of His Grace.
