Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from the Home Secretary to the Duke of Atholl, regarding the fixed salaries and fees of the following officials on the Isle of Man: the Clerks of the Rolls, the Deemsters, the Water Bailiff and the Clerk of the Council; Lord Sidmouth states that he hopes the measures put in place regarding salaries and fees will 'greatly increase the respectability of persons' appointed to those offices, and also be a 'check on the extravagant spirit of litigation which exists' on the island.
