Scope & Content: Electric tram car 19 in front of the canopy and terminus; part of a horse-drawn tram is visible along with an advertisment for the Derby Castle where Vesta Tilley was appearing.
This photograph dates from the 1899-1902 period. The tramcars have trolleypoles (1898 or later). The booking office (left) was built in 1899. In the centre of the photo is one of the original 1893 trams (1-3) coupled to 1894 trailer 19. The two trams on the right-hand side of the photo were built in 1895 (cars 10-13) and withdrawn from passenger service in 1902 (they were later modified and used for freight).
