Entry into New Bond St from North Quay, Douglas
Date(s): 1932-1934
Creator(s): Frowde, John James
Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'Entry into New Bond St from North Quay via Harris Lane. Clarendon Hotel on L. This in 1848 was a draper's shop run by Samuel Harris, father of High Bailiff Harris. In a small directory at end of Quiggin's Guide, of above date, the name of Mr Harris also appears in the list of holders of wine and spirit licences. Most houses in the district at that time sold beer, but Mr S Harris achieved a higher plane'.
