No. 24 New Bond St, Douglas
Date(s): 1932-1934
Creator(s): Frowde, John James
Scope & Content: On the back of this photograph Frowde writes, 'Here, no 24 New Bond St. A house that has an old world air and a source of satisfaction about it, difficult to define. The door and all the windows in New Bond St are in the gable of the house. Neither the lines of the gable nor of the windows to the L are at all symmetrical. The small door next the front door helps the effect, though actually, that is the entry to the yard of the Criterion Hotel. Then the archaic brass door knocker. A fine piece. Mrs Gill of Durie House has been permitted to retain her finer one. But there are several others; Joe Corkish's (Old Hare and Hounds) was a fine specimen'.
