Conversation in Manx Gaelic and memories of the Manx language

Scope & Content: The first 12 minutes is a scripted conversation in Manx, between Juan and Kathleen, it is unclear if these are the names of the speakers or character names.
Next a new recording begins of a man speaking in English who says he was born 66-years-ago in Callow's Croft Ballakeyll, Kirk Andreas. He talks about how, at that time, Manx was spoken a good deal among the older people, although the younger people only understood part; the island as then self-supporting; six fishing boats on the Lhenn shore and one or two in Jurby; how farmers produced almost everything they used; the Lhenn as a place of fishing in those days, they would follow the fish, cod in the spring at Whitehaven, then to Kinsale for the mackerel and after that to Peel or to the Shetlands for herring, then some cod fishing off the shore, then the cycle would begin again; how people used to make everything they needed, food, fuel and clothes, but then in his time things began to modernise. The recording continues with more folk life information.
