Boats alongside the Red Pier, Douglas Harbour, Isle of Man
Date(s): early 20th century
Scope & Content: Sailing boats and steamships moored at the Red Pier. The timber posts projecting above the quayside were to prevent the paddle boxes of the paddle steamers being damaged as the tide went down. The steamship alongside the pier looks like the pleasure steamer 'The Manx Fairy'.
The lighthouse at the end was designed by George Steuart.
