Market on North Quay, Douglas, Isle of Man
Date(s): c.1900
Scope & Content: The British Hotel is shown under construction. Douglas Town Commissioners had cleared six acres of old Douglas in the mid 1890s which made way for Armitage Rigby and his ‘new antique’ design of a half timbered building ‘The British Hotel’. Beside it, also under construction, is the row of shops designed by Rennison.
In the centre is a cast iron gentleman’s urinal.
