Scope & Content: This is the site of shipbuilding in Ramsey which goes back to the nineteenth century. In 1831 John Taggart of Liverpool bought land in this area and opened a shipyard. In 1902 the salt works with their tall chimneys was established on the site. The salt works were demolished about seven years after this photograph was taken.
