Scope & Content: Andrew James Guthrie, known as "Jimmy" was from Hawick, Scotland.
In his career he had 24 starts and 6 wins at the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) races, his first being the 1930 Lightweight. In 1934 and 1935 he won both the Junior and Senior TT races, with two further Junior and one more Senior race victory before his death at the 1937 German Grand Prix, aged 40.
The Jimmy Guthie Memorial on the Isle of Man (on the Mountain course at the spot where he retired from his final TT) was paid for by public subscription.
