Tim Wood (Scott), 1913 Senior TT (Tourist Trophy)
Date(s): 1913
Scope & Content: First two stroke winner at the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT).
In 1913 the new Secretary of the Auto Cycle Union Major Tommy Loughborough decided that instead of one Junior and one Senior race, each race should be divided into two sections, held on different days.
The six lap Junior would be split into two races of two and four laps. The seven lap Senior would start with a three lap event, the second four lap part being run together with the Junior two days later.
Frank Bateman had taken over the lead in the second Senior race when he crashed below Keppel Gate following a puncture and died from his injuries. Tim Wood went on to win, setting a new lap record of 52mph.
