Administration / Biographical History: Designed by John Dixon a London Engineer and built at a cost of £6500, this structure stretched out to sea for some 1,000 feet from the foot of Broadway. The foundation stone was laid January 1869 and the pier opened by Mrs Loch on 19 August 1869.

The charge for access (in 1874) was 1d a visit, 1s 6d a month or 5s per annum. The pier was dismantled in the early 1890s. The refreshment room/pavilion at the end of the pier was later used at Groudle as Dokie's Cafe.
