Administration / Biographical History: Robert Duddingstone Herdman (1863-1922) was a portrait and genre painter, the second son of Robert Herdman Sr. who was a member of the RSA. He studied art in Paris at the RSA schools while visiting Spain and Holland. He exhibited in many galleries, including those in London from 1888 as well as those in Paris, Munich, Vienna and Scotland. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1908 and went on to live in Edinburgh for many years.
