Administration / Biographical History: Entries within the account book note progress in the project starting with the first entry, 'Commenced work on the new Chapel at Sandy Gale June 21st 1861'. Later, 'The foundation stone of the new chapel at Sandy Gate was laid on Monday the 7th October 1861 at about half past five o'clock afternoon by William Callister Esq. of Thornhill and a collection made toward the expense of the building to the amount of five pounds ten shillings and sixpence'. The Chapel was opened on 9 July 1863.
