A Sketch of a Journal, commencing 25 December 1826'

Scope & Content: Written by an unidentified Methodist local preacher, the diary mentions where services took place in the parishes of Arbory and Rushen and names of other preachers and some members of congregations. It includes an account of home prayer meetings, burials and baptisms. For example, 'Sun 7th Sept the power of God was felt amongst us class at 2, Wm. Creer preached at my house at night exhorted at the strand.' There are notes concerning the 'exhortations' given, and the biblical references on which they were based.

Administration / Biographical History: An attached letter from the donor notes the failure to identify the author, Henry Watterson having been the prime candidate until his name appeared in the journal itself.
