Letters from Henry Jenner in Hayle, Cornwall to Archdeacon Kewley

Scope & Content: Jenner writes of his interest in comparing Manx Gaelic with other Celtic languages and mentions a pamphlet which he wrote on the Manx language. He touches on various other aspects including the use of Manx words within Latin church services, the Celtic Congress and his interest in a possible study of Manx place names. Jenner recalls a visit to the island remembering several conversations, one with Mr Qualtrough of Kirk Arbory discussing the statistics of Manx speakers, also a conversation with Thomas Kenvig who gave the author a list of popular etymology. He writes of spending time with Mr Kermode and his daughter, possibly 'Cushag'.
