Scope & Content: The extracts include references to Robert going out fishing and looking for game. There are a few references to people: Campbell Betham is mentioned (brother in law of Captain Bligh of the Bounty), also John Quayle Clerk of the Rolls and, 03 March 1784, 'Governor Smith called in ye evening on his way to Douglas'. Possibly because of his father's position as the Attorney General he had opportunities to be present at important decisions about the Island so ,06 December 1783, ''went to Castletown, sat in the Governors garden for some time. then walked in his garden. After that staid in ye council room till we came home hearing them talk about new laws and taxes they about to lay on ye people here'.
Administration / Biographical History: Robert Busk was the son of Sir Wadsworth Busk (Attorney General, 1774-1793) and Alice Parish of Newtown, Santon (both from Yorkshire).
