Scope & Content: Cubbon encloses a piece of his on Sir William Hillary with his reasons for not sending it for publication. He writes, 'This is probably the last letter I ever write, and I wish it to be of a good and kind nature ... So good bye to everybody at the Museum which I love'. An accompanying covering letter from his son Mr W R Cubbon sets out his father's wishes that the letter be shown to named friends outside the Museum and reports on his father's health.
Administration / Biographical History: Cubbon, a previous Librarian and Director of the Manx Museum and National Trust, died on 1 January 1955. This was his last letter written to the museum.
