Manx Prayer Book of Daniel Christian with additional handwritten entries

Scope & Content: Within this Manx Prayer Book (printed in Whitehaven, 1777) are Christian's handwritten notes about his military career including enlistment in January 1766, being posted to Gibraltar and later to various locations in England.and being discharged in June 1783.

A transcription of the manuscript notes is placed with the actual Prayer Book.

Administration / Biographical History: Daniel Christian was born on 18 April 1747. He enlisted in the 3rd Regiment of Foot, January 1766 and was posted to Gibraltar and later to various locations in England. In June 1783 Christian was discharged. He married Mary Costain in November 1776 at Lonan church and after his return to the island in August 1783 he went on to build a house in Laxey in 1784.
