Manx reminiscences of Miss Dora Brown

Scope & Content: The reminiscences describe a coastal walk from Maughold to Ballaglass Glen, accompanied by Miss Stowell and Willy Gill (W H Gill). Gill played some Manx tunes and some that he had composed himself. Dora describes a walk to see the bottle nosed whale washed up on the shore under Maughold Head. On the walk she describes finding a runic cross and letting P M C Kermode know its location. Further descriptions include walks to Laxey and Spooyrt Vane, a parish choir day out to Douglas, early memories of her mother and father, the Merchant of Venice acted out in a country school, a Manx railway accident and a walk to North Barrule with her father; also a description of a Manx tableau performed by Dora and Miss Graves from Peel (Miss Wood set it to music and sang). Notebook with handwritten entries accompanied by transcription (10 pages).
Administration / Biographical History: Dora Brown was one of poet T E Brown's daughters.
