Brown, Cosnahan, La Mothe and Stowell families

Scope & Content: The file contains a series of legible, referenced and numbered trees on various connected families. The author commences by providing background on the origin of the Cosnahan family. Land purchased near Peel became known as Ballacosnahan. Two sheets contain the Cosnahan tree listing many Vicars of Santon (Santan) in particular. Charles Cosnahan (1696-1763) marries Margaret Joyner in 1724, Jane Cosnhan (1700-1780) marries Christopher Bridson (1694-1784) in 1722.

One page sets out the ancestors and descendants of Rev Thomas Howard (1785-) and Nessy Stowell who married in 1810 at Braddan. One page is entitled Stowell/Brown/Cosnahan familiy connections and roots of Rev Thomes Edward Brown refereing to T E Brown (1830-1897) Teacher and Poet. Stowell descendants of Rev William Stowell (1825-1878) and Mary Elizabeth Cowen (1828-1887) who were married at Rotherham in 1848 are listed. One tree has Captain Robert Brown (1713-1769) and Margaret Cosnahan (1718-1769) and their descendants. One sheet is entitled 'Family of Rev Hugh Stowell (1768-1835) Rector of Ballaugh ...' and another 'The La Mothes of the Isle of Man and Stowell connections'. One tree traces back the ancestors of Ann Hendry (1769-) who married William Stowell which may be Mylvrey, McIllverry, Myleworrey etc.
