Scope & Content: Cook writes regarding the inscription on a Gibb tomb stone which was once in the burial ground of Oldham Street Church, Liverpool and dedicated to a Duncan Gibb of Bombay (d. 1833), Duncan Gibb of Liverpool and Ramsey (d. 1867) and his son William (b.10; d. 13 March 1848.
The transcription of the inscription is as follows, 'Sacred to the memory of Duncan Gibb of Bombay, a native of Greenock, who died on his passage home on June 17th 1833 aged 24 years. His body was preserved and he is here. Sacred to the memory of Duncan Gibb, Merchant of this town who died at Ramsey, Isle of Man, November 8th 1867 aged 75 years. Also William, son of the above born 10th March died 13th March 1848'.
Stowell Kenyon responds noting difficulties in establishing the identities of these three men and their familial connection.
