The dissertation suggests that pre-Norse distribution of keeills had a Treen to keeill formula of a precise nature. The influence of construction of early keeill sites appears to be from Ireland. Early keeills the author suggests have been a component of the Isle of Man's Celtic architectural heritage and identity.
