Administration / Biographical History: John Quilliam was a Trustee of the Manx Museum and National Trust and a Port St Mary Commissioner. He was a Manx speaker, winner of the Mannanan Trophy (1976), Methodist Preacher and founder member of the Rushen Silver Band (see Manx Sun 31 January 1976 page 5).

Quilliam wrote the 'Know your Parish' booklets and 'From Shore to Shore' and delivered talks including those broadcast on Manx Radio. The Isle of Man Courier carried his column also.

He married Jocelyn Ann Quirk (Ann) on 3 November 1934 at Rushen. The couple had two sons John Edward Harley in 1941 and Derek James 31 March 1944. The family lived in Colby and later Port St Mary.

Quilliam's career work included being a shepherd, milkman, haulier, Boarding House Keeper and engineer at Ronaldsway Aircraft Manufacturing Company.
