Frederick Tellet, High Bailiff of Ramsey's paper include incoming correspondence from multiple people as well as documentation relating to public health (cholera and small pox, 1831-1871), the first Ramsey lifeboat, 1835 and a letter from Sir William Hillary to Tellet regarding the service of seven men at Ramsey in rescuing survivors of a shipwreck, 20 March 1845, the proposed Ramsey Steampacket Company (1838-1839), money pledged to fill in the part of the harbour called the Lake (1835-1837), potato crop levy returns (1836-1838), measures regarding scarcity of grain (March 1847), correspondence and papers regarding the visit of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1847 and building of the Albert Tower, proposed improvements to Ramsey harbour (1856), proposed low water landing pier (1869), welcome to Governor Piggott (1860), list of men taking an oath of allegiance in the Ramsey Rifle Corps (1860), petition to request Tellet accept the Captaincy of the Ramsey (3rd Isle of Man) Volunteers (1866) ...

Dr F Tellet's papers include the post mortem report on John Kewish, executed at Castle Rushen on 1 August 1872.


Papers of Canon James Cain (son in law of Dr Frederick Tellet) - predominantly genealogical research related showing Tellet connections to the following families: Christian, Crellin, Farrant, Frissell, Goldsmith, Mylrea, Nelson and Quayle, There are also papers regarding the estate of Margaret Tellet and properties at Windsor Terrace, Abbeville and Auburn House.

Administration / Biographical History: Frederick Tellet resigned the office of High Bailiff due to the state of his health; he was notified of his replacement, Alured Dumbell, in a 31 December 1872 letter from Governor Loch noting his thanks for his service.
