First World War internee Captain Halder in front of an internment tent, Douglas Camp, Isle of Man

Date(s): ?1915

Scope & Content: Tent ZE.

The seated internee is a tent occupant (Privilege Camp) and the internee stood at the side may be his 'batman' or man servant from the Ordinary Camp. The glass plate has been marked: Capt Halder. There are two men of this name recorded in the Douglas Camp Daybook but this is likely to be William Halder who arrived 28 October 1914. The title 'Captain' reflects the fact that Halder was Head Captain of the entire Douglas Camp.
